The music has been restored to this short and very rare aircheck of Soul giant WWRL in New York. It's just past 4 in the morning on April 21, 1968, and Big 'RL Soul Man Jeffrey Troy plays the survey hits. He also says he's putting his money on Los Angeles to defeat Boston in the NBA Championship. (Ooops! The Celtics won.)

The unfortunate cross-talk and high noise level on the original recording don't accurately represent the powerful sound of this station during its prime. I remember it as particularly loud and bassy when visiting New York City in 1965.
