. . . Brother Love once said, 'Celibacy is for sissies' . . .
[DESCRIPTION BY UNCLE RICKY] This is the first hour of the first day of Don Imus on WNBC from December 2, 1971. It's been said that this show (and those that followed) changed New York radio forever. Imus In The Morning is ready to "take New York just like Joe Willie took the Colts and Muhammad took Sonny." It's 5AM, but there are many gags and features, including Lily Tomlin, "letters" from competing NYC morning talent, and appearances by Brother Love and Hy Hollywood, who didn't seem to make the cut on later Imus shows. This rare hour came to contributor Rob Frankel from Joe Persek. It had a number of technical issues, including mind-numbing hum and oceans of hiss. We were able to eliminate the hum, but removing any more of the hiss would have removed most of the high frequencies. Because the music on this recording is so very noisy, we have also provided a 'scoped version for mobile users. Technical issues aside, the content is historic and it IS classic Imus In The Morning.
