TOP STREAM 32.0Kbps (14.5KHz) Don and Mike, WAVA August 6, 1986, Part 1 (01:01:48) . . . We're big believers in the rhythm method that's DeBarge and we're two white, fat Catholic guys . . . [Description by Uncle Ricky from notes by Beeb E. Rebozo]
This hour is unscoped, with the exception of one tape change edit in the first song. The opening bit is Berate The Bride, in which listeners help celebrity pseudo-guest Jack Nicholson choose the most unattractive wife-to-be from The Washington Post's wedding announcements. They were asked to stop doing this. Lucille Ball was celebrating her 175th birthday on this show. Our hosts reject the first volunteer for The Guy With a Corncob Stuck In His Stomach (they insist they can't be fooled) and call Jackie The Joke Man instead. Then they sing along with When I Think of You (hilarious!) and when they do get a volunteer for the corncob gag, the innocent passer-by volunteers the call letters! What a radio show... Also included here: Maurice (the effeminate sportscaster), David David Haines (Burnt Toast and Coffee Time), Kim Anderson (traffic) and Bill Kamal with weather. Not only are Don & Mike worth the price of admission, we absolutely love the variety of hit music, the jingles, and that wonderful, cool reverb. Baseball fan Pete pegs the date of this aircheck as August 6, 1986. | ||
