Chuck Dunaway, KILT Houston TX., December 1966 . . . This is K I L T Sounds Like Christmas! . . . Description by Uncle Ricky For Christmas 2009, the music has been restored to this sizzling, seasonal and 'scoped aircheck of Chuck Dunaway on Gordon McLendon's KILT in Houston. Last we heard, Mr. Dunaway sold his radio stations, and was enjoying his retirement. Christmas Day (a Sunday in 1966) is just a few days away, and most of the time when Chuck talks, there's a yuletide underscoring of chimes! It was MAGICAL, all of it... Check the sonovox "weatherword" that closes the news, and the great custom PAMS jingles! KILT was the first in Houston with 20/20 news, and on the day of this aircheck, they had already given away more than $6000 in "prizes and goodies". There's also a nice bouquet for the Sweetheart Of The Day, who works at a local advertising agency. The original aircheck was gritty and technically compromised, no question. This was a difficult restoration for that reason, but altogether, it's an instant imperfect flashback to Christmas 1966. Our music license prohibits us from listing the music featured here, but it's tasty and LOUD in the best narrowband AM tradition. Enjoy and Merry Christmas! |
