. . . There's always something happening on WCFL . . .

Description by Uncle Ricky

It's the last 45 minutes of The Barney Pip Show for Saturday, May 11, 1968, and it sounds as though Barney has been told to keep things moving as competitor WLS grows stronger. Many of the Ken Draper elements are still here, though, like the Chuck Blore jingles. The earlier "Mini-Spins" have evolved into "Previews" and the "Capsule Countdown". Pip has fun helping with the count.

Dick Biondi, who follows Barney on the overnight Instant Encore show, stops in to bum a smoke. John McClaren delivers a typically powerful Voice Of Labor newscast, and Pip concludes this Mother's Day Eve show with a moving trumpet performance.

This recording suffers from some unfortunate drop-out, flutter, and bad alignment. It gets worse toward the end, and was severe enough to prompt three quickie musical restorations.
