. . . The Front Page edition of KILT news, and you may quote it . . . [Description by Uncle Ricky for contributor Jay Marks] It's Christmas in July, 2007, as we debut Part One of this exceptional two-hour recording from Houston's KILT on Sunday, December 20, 1964. Rob McCloud is the host, and long-time radio journalist Brad Messer is featured with news and sports. McCloud offers a relaxed journeyman performance following Messer's dramatic presentation of the 4PM or Front Page Edition of KILT News. Messer, a young man in his early twenties at the time of the aircheck, was "retired" from 47 years in broadcasting and KTSA in San Antonio on July 16, 2007. Contributor Jay Marks made this aircheck at 3-3/4 ips on one side of a 2400-foot reel of Scotch Recording Tape on a Wollensak patched from an RCA transistor radio. We had originally intended to present the second part of this exhibit in December, 2007, but missed that date. Instead, Part Two appeared a week later, in January 2008. |
