Our thanks to Bluegrass Bill for this rare recording, truly a Golden Gift! |
TOP STREAM 44Kbps (10KHz) Roby Yonge, WCBS-FM New York NY February 1970 (42:45) . . . There's a whole lotta Friday goin' on, WCBS-FM . . . [Description by Contributor Bluegrass Bill] Yep, this is the legendary WCBS-FM before they went all oldies. Former WABC DJ Roby Yonge is here, with a few mishaps (like starting Livin' Lovin' Maid a little early.) WCBS-FM played The Platters, Led Zeppelin, and Aretha Franklin singing Let It Be, some current Top 40 and some James Gang, and Dusty Springfield. This was the very best FM radio of the time, and despite the fidelity, this is my favorite aircheck. [From Uncle Ricky: Severe traveling phase problems on this lo-fi stereo recording, our apologies to low-bandwidth listeners. Regardless, it's still important radio history.] |
