On WKBW in 1964, Joey Reynolds handled the 7pm-Midnight shift.

Reynolds made it clear he was not impressed with The Beatles. Although the Fab Four was taking over America's airwaves, Reynolds felt that there were local bands in each city that were just as good. Reynolds was also involved with a song called The Beetle, by The Buddies, and he claimed Brian Epstein was pressuring him to change the name.

Part Two of this classic recording of Joey Reynolds on WKBW, Buffalo, N.Y., begins with another newscast (every :15 and :45!) and, as an added bonus, there's some genuine fading. This was obviously a skywave 'check (I wonder how far away?) and most of the time, it was pretty good. But I'm sure we all remember waiting through the "fades" for the signal to come back. ("Bad Skywave, BAD Skywave!") We're also treated to some funky tape problems and whatevers.

Reynolds tries to sing with Lesley Gore, The Buddies get a play, but it's still Much More Beatles, and Joey's parody of WABC? And there are other surprises in this second part of a three-part presentation. Our thanks again to John Bisci, Jr.
