Our thanks to Storz historian Richard W. Fatherley for this excellent Golden Gift. Richard received this from Dick Ferguson at Cox Radio. |
TOP STREAM 32Kbps (10KHz) The History Of The Rock & Roll Disk Jockey, 1970 (01:00:01) . . . your average run-of-the-mill rock jock is a certifiable cretin . . . [Description by Uncle Ricky] This "rockumentary" was originally produced in 1969 and 1970 by Ken Devoe, who later enjoyed a twenty-year career as an air personality, program and production director in New Haven, Hartford and Bridgeport Connecticut. Ken started working on this as an academic project in lieu of his senior thesis at Yale, and refined it while in the Graduate School Department of Radio & TV at Indiana University. Included are comments from Dick Biondi, Chuck Williams, Bill Hennes and Bill Hennessy of The Connecticut School of Broadcasting. Several airchecks are included, among them a cleaner copy of a previously featured aircheck of Robin Scott (Bob Dayton) on WIL (1961). You'll also hear Williams on CKLW, Charlie Tuna on KOMA, and some great "primitive" razor-blade and splicing-tape production. |
