UNSCOPED

. . . The World In Sound, 1965 . . .

Description by Uncle Ricky for contributor Peter Kanze.

AP was (and is) The Associated Press. In addition to those big, clacking teletype machines, they also provided audio services, plus this compilation of audio they had collected for the year. There is general agreement that the narrator is John Charles Daly (d. 1991).

The fidelity of this copy varies, but the actual sounds of the year are fascinating, particularly for anyone who grew up in the Sixties. This classic recording is welcome in our non-profit repository.

This retrospective begins with the November 9, 1965 blackout in New York City, and ends with the Pope. It sounds as though in addition to actual recordings of the time, AP may have used some "scripted" performers for this feature.
