Cowboy Bob Moody (later known as Cosmic Bob Moody) had been at CKLW for only a few months when captured by this logger tape on the last day of 1973. Joe Donovan is featured with 20/20 News, which includes an In Depth Report about Canadian favorite Robert Goulet.

As of 2005, Moody was Vice-President of Programming for Regent Communications, a radio conglomerate company based in Tennessee.

This recording, like the previous CKLW Logger Tapes presented in The Andy Bologovsky Collection was recovered from the original logger reels by restorian Charlie Ritenburg. The fidelity is comparable to a recording made from a narrow-band AM receiver in the local signal area of the mighty CKLW.

The CKLW Logger Tape for the early morning hours of December 31, 1973 continues with Part Two of Cowboy/Cosmic Bob Moody. Once again, Joe Donovan is featured with 20/20 News and a true Big 8 rarity: dead air! It precedes another In Depth Report about Canadian favorite Robert Goulet.

Part Three of this Extended-Play Cowboy/Cosmic Bob Moody aircheck is next on the CKLW Logger Tape from the early morning hours (3AM and 4AM) of December 31, 1973.

Except for the fact that the DCMA doesn't allow us to list the music in our exhibits, we might tell you that CKLW News Director Byron MacGregor (d. 1995) had a hit spoken-word record in 1973/74. There are two newscasts from Joe Donovan in this segment, but they were not hit records. In Depth with Robert Goulet gets still deeper, but none of his music is played. A notable percentage of the music you will hear in this segment was also played in the previous two segments. It was, after all, Top 40 radio, but there are some nice Oldies and re-currents.

Part Four of this Extended-Play CKLW Logger Tape from the early morning hours (5AM through 6:15 AM) includes the last hour of Bob Moody's all night show. Bob, of course, continues to Play All The Hits, All The Time. John Belmont is featured with 20/20 News.

At about 01:03:10 in, we get the first quarter-hour of Mickey Schorr's morning show. Schorr was subbing for Detroit radio veteran Dave Shafer. As you will hear, Schorr was not your typical Big 8 jock, but he was a radio celebrity in the Detroit market. Fortunately, we have the rest of Mickey's show from this morning, and that's good, because he said it would be his last show of the year.
